The largest party in Legislature-Parliament, Nepali Congress (NC) has amended its Parliamentary Party statute.
At a meeting held at Naya Baneshwor in Kathmandu on Monday, NC chief whip Chin Kaji Shrestha tabled the proposal . The meeting was presided over by Kulbahadur Gurung as the senior-most member of the party.
The Parliamentary Party statute has amended certain terminologies. The term Interim Constitution 2063 has been replaced by Constitution, Constituent Assembly has been replaced by Legislature Parliament, and 5 development regions has been changed by 7 federal states.
NC is preparing to hold its elections to the post of PP leader as the position remained vacant following the demise of NC President Sushil Koirala. The elections to the post of PP leader are scheduled for April 6 and the election to NC PP committee will take place on April 8.
It has been learnt that NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel are vying for the post of PP leader.
Meanwhile, the NC leaders at the meeting of the parliamentary party committee today said that the proposal to amend the statute will be sent to the party central working committee meeting to be held today itself for approval.
